AAWP Review 2026: Is the Amazon Plugin Worth €79?

AAWP comparison table on the official demo page with three phones, Best Choice and Best Price labels, and Buy on Amazon buttons

A comparison table on AAWP’s official demo page, with live prices pulled from Amazon, October 2026.

Our verdict: AAWP is worth €79 a year if your Amazon Associates account already makes at least 10 sales a month. It is the most complete Amazon plugin for WordPress, it moved to Amazon’s new Creators API in January 2026, and it gets updates about once a month. If you are just starting out and have no sales yet, wait. AAWP has no free version, Amazon won’t give you API access until you qualify, and the paid AAWP API fallback adds a monthly fee on top. A free block plugin and plain text links will do the job until then.

AAWP is paid-only, so we did not buy or install it. This review is based on AAWP’s own pricing pages, documentation, changelog and live demo, plus Amazon’s own Creators API documentation and Associates policies. The free alternatives section is hands-on: we installed AffiliateX on a test site and built the kind of comparison table AAWP is known for.

What Is AAWP?

AAWP stands for Amazon Affiliate WordPress Plugin. It is made by fdmedia, and the copyright line on its site goes back to 2015. You paste in an Amazon product ID (called an ASIN), and AAWP builds a product box, table or link with the current title, image, price and rating. It adds your Associates tracking ID to every link and refreshes the product data on a schedule, so prices on your page don’t go stale.

That last part is the main reason people pay for it. Amazon’s rules don’t let you type prices in by hand. The Associates Program Policies (updated April 14, 2026) say your site may only show prices and availability if Amazon serves the link that shows them, or if you get the data from the Creators API or PA-API. A plugin that pulls prices from the API keeps you inside that rule without manual work.

If you used EasyAzon years ago, AAWP is where it went. The old EasyAzon site now redirects to AAWP, which says “EasyAzon has been replaced by AAWP.”

The Amazon API Situation in 2026

Amazon’s Creators API introduction page listing the prerequisites, including at least 10 qualifying sales within the past 30 days

Amazon’s Creators API documentation, with the 10-sale prerequisite under “Prerequisites,” October 2026.

PA-API 5 is gone. Amazon’s deprecation notice says the Product Advertising API 5.0 “has been deprecated and is being replaced by the Creators API.” Apps that still call it now get a “403 Forbidden” error. Any Amazon plugin that hasn’t been updated has stopped pulling product data.

The Creators API has a higher bar. Amazon’s documentation lists these prerequisites:

  • You are enrolled in Amazon Associates for the store you want to promote, and your account has received final acceptance.
  • You have at least 10 qualifying sales within the past 30 days.
  • You register under Tools > Creators API in Associates Central. Only the primary account owner can do this.
  • You create an application (up to two per store) and generate a Credential ID and Credential Secret. Old PA-API keys don’t carry over.

Access can lapse. AAWP’s documentation says Amazon temporarily revokes Creators API access when your account stops generating qualified sales over a 30-day period, and restores it within about two days after your referred sales ship again. For a seasonal site, that means product boxes can lose their data during a slow month.

AAWP handled the switch early. Version 5.0.0 (January 29, 2026) added Creators API support, and later updates fixed Creators API problems such as custom tracking IDs that didn’t work, missing product groups, and products that failed to save. You enter the new credentials under AAWP > Settings > Amazon API and pick your Amazon store.

How AAWP Works

Based on AAWP’s docs and pricing pages, setup looks like this:

  1. Buy a license and download the plugin from your AAWP account. It is not on WordPress.org.
  2. Upload the plugin to WordPress, activate it, and enter your license key.
  3. Create Creators API credentials in Associates Central and paste them into AAWP > Settings > Amazon API, or enter an AAWP API key if you don’t qualify yet.
  4. Add your tracking ID, then place products with the AAWP block in the block editor or with shortcodes.

After that, the daily work is picking ASINs. AAWP fetches the rest and caches it on your site.

AAWP Features

These are the display types and tools listed on AAWP’s features page and shown on its demo:

  • Product boxes. A single product with image, title, short description, price, rating, Prime badge and a “Buy on Amazon” button. You can show one box or several in a row.
  • Bestseller and new release lists. Automatic top-3 or top-10 lists for a keyword or product category, which update on their own. These need the Creators API; they don’t work through the AAWP API.
  • Comparison tables. A table builder where you pick the products and rows, and label columns like “Best Choice” and “Best Price.” On a phone-width screen, the demo table switches to a single-product layout instead of making the page scroll sideways.
  • Data fields and text links. Drop a single live value, like the current price or a button, into a sentence.
  • Geotargeting. Sends visitors to their own country’s Amazon store. You need a tracking ID for each country, which means joining each country’s Associates program.
  • Click tracking. Shows which products get clicked, which part of the box was clicked (image, title or button), and the device and browser. You can exclude logged-in roles like admins.
  • Templates and styling. Horizontal, vertical, list and table templates, custom CSS, and your own templates for developers.
  • Migration tools. Version 4.3.3 added an importer for AmaLinks Pro, and version 5.0.6 added one for Lasso, two other paid Amazon plugins.

AAWP also runs on WordPress.com, but only on a plan that allows third-party plugins (AAWP names the Business plan). Our guide to what WordPress actually costs explains how those plans compare with self-hosting.

The AAWP API: A Paid Fallback for Sites Without Amazon Access

AAWP API feature page explaining that it provides product titles, prices, images and descriptions for affiliates without Amazon API access

The “What is the AAWP API?” section on getaawp.com, October 2026.

The AAWP API is AAWP’s answer to the 10-sale rule. Instead of Amazon’s API, AAWP fetches product data from its own service, so you can build boxes and tables before you qualify or while your access is paused.

What the vendor says you get:

  • Product titles, prices, images and descriptions.
  • Plans for 150, 250, 500, 750 or 1,000 products a month, starting at €7 a month for 150. Monthly or discounted annual billing, and you can change plans at any time.
  • One product allowance shared across all your sites.
  • You can switch between the AAWP API and Amazon’s API in the settings.

The limits matter. Bestseller and new release lists don’t work through it, and AAWP itself says it is not a full replacement for Amazon’s API. Prices for the bigger plans aren’t listed on the feature page.

Two things to ask AAWP before you rely on it. First, its pages disagree on whether you need a plugin license: the FAQ says you can buy a standalone API plan if your plugin license expires, while a note on the same page says a valid plugin license is required. Second, Amazon’s price rule names only Amazon’s own links and APIs as approved sources for prices. It doesn’t mention third-party data services, so check with AAWP how it handles this for your account.

AAWP Pricing (October 2026)

AAWP annual pricing plans for 1, 3, 5 and 10 sites at 79, 129, 199 and 299 euros per year

AAWP’s annual plans on getaawp.com, October 2026. Prices exclude tax.

Plan Sites Annual Lifetime (one-time)
Starter 1 (no multisite) €79/year €299
Advanced User 3 €129/year €499
Experienced User 5 €199/year €699
Professional User 10 €299/year €899

A few details from the pricing page and its FAQ:

  • Prices are in euros and exclude tax, so expect VAT or sales tax at checkout. The checkout runs through Freemius, a payment service for plugin sellers.
  • Annual licenses renew automatically. If you cancel, you keep updates and support until the year ends, then they stop. Given how often Amazon’s API changes, running AAWP without updates is risky.
  • There is no trial. AAWP offers a 30-day full refund instead.
  • A subdomain counts as a site. Multisite use needs the 3-site plan or higher.
  • New customers get a free one-year license for ClickWhale Pro, the same team’s link manager. Its free version was closed on WordPress.org on December 4, 2025, for a guideline violation, so look at that bonus as a nice extra, not a reason to buy.
  • The AAWP API costs extra on every plan.

The 1-site lifetime license costs about as much as four years of the annual plan, so it only makes sense for a site you plan to keep.

Updates and Security Track Record

AAWP changelog entry for version 5.1.0 released September 3, 2026, with Creators API SDK update and PHP 8.1 requirement

The top of AAWP’s public changelog, showing version 5.1.0 from September 3, 2026.

AAWP’s public changelog shows 14 releases between January and September 2026, a healthy pace for a plugin that depends on an API Amazon keeps changing. Two entries stand out:

  • Version 5.0.9 (July 9, 2026) fixed an “Unauthenticated SQL Injection via Click Tracking.” An unauthenticated SQL injection is a serious bug, because an attacker doesn’t need to log in to try it. If you run an older version, update now.
  • Version 5.1.0 (September 3, 2026) raised the minimum PHP version to 8.1. Check your host’s PHP version before you update.

Because AAWP touches every product page on your site, try big updates on a copy first. Our roundup of the best WordPress staging plugins covers free ways to do that.

AAWP Pros and Cons

Pros

  • The widest set of Amazon display options we know of: boxes, automatic lists, tables, data fields and links.
  • Already on the Creators API, with monthly updates in 2026.
  • A paid fallback (the AAWP API) for sites that don’t qualify or lose access.
  • Click tracking and geotargeting built in.
  • Migration tools if you are leaving Lasso or AmaLinks Pro.

Cons

  • No free version and no trial.
  • The AAWP API costs extra and can’t run bestseller lists.
  • Amazon-only. If you also promote other stores, you need another plugin.
  • A serious security fix in July 2026 means you must keep it updated, which means keeping the license active.

Free Alternatives: What You Can Do Without AAWP

AffiliateX Product Comparison block in the WordPress block editor with three sample grinders and element toggles in the sidebar

Editing an AffiliateX Product Comparison block on our test install, AffiliateX 2.3.10 on WordPress 7.1.2, October 2026.

If you don’t have 10 sales a month yet, you can’t use Amazon’s API, so no plugin can show live Amazon prices for free. What you can do is build boxes and tables by hand and leave the prices out. We tried that on a test install (WordPress 7.1.2, PHP 8.3, the Twenty Twenty-Five theme) with AffiliateX, a free block plugin with 9,000+ active installs, to see how close it gets to an AAWP comparison table.

What we saw on our test install:

  • AffiliateX 2.3.10 installed from WordPress.org in about six seconds. Its menu opened an opt-in screen first; “Skip” worked. One “Summer Sale: 20% Off AffiliateX Pro” banner then sat on the dashboard.
  • The free Product Comparison block was in the inserter, and adding it took about three seconds. We filled in three sample products (image, name, ribbon, rating, button link) and three spec rows. Every value is typed by hand; nothing comes from Amazon.
  • The sidebar has toggles for each element, including Price. Turn Price off for Amazon products, since Amazon’s policies don’t allow typed-in prices.
  • Each button has nofollow and sponsored options, which is how Google asks sites to mark paid links. We switched both on. But in the page’s HTML, the block wrote the attribute as rel='nofollow sponsored', with the quote marks turned into HTML codes. The browser read that as 'nofollow, which isn’t a valid value, so the links lost both markings. The new-window setting had the same problem. If you use this block, check your page source.

AffiliateX comparison table on the front end of a test page, with three sample products and the third column spilling past the table border

The finished AffiliateX comparison table on our test site, with hand-typed sample data, October 2026. The third column runs past the table’s border.

  • The layout didn’t fit the theme. In Twenty Twenty-Five’s normal content width, the table measured 763 pixels wide inside a 645-pixel box, so the last column spilled past the border. At a phone width of 390 pixels, the whole page became 793 pixels wide and scrolled sideways. AAWP’s demo table, checked at the same width, fit the screen.

AffiliateX can stand in for AAWP while you build up sales, but only as a stopgap: you get the look of a comparison table without live data, and you need to check its output. For managing the Amazon links themselves, the free ThirstyAffiliates plugin is a good pairing; it has an uncloak option built for Amazon’s linking rules.

Paid alternatives are worth a look too. AzonPress costs $39 a year for one site and also runs on the Creators API. WooZone imports Amazon products into WooCommerce if you want a store rather than a blog. We compare all of them, with hands-on tests of the free plugins, in our list of the best Amazon WordPress plugins.

Who Should Buy AAWP (and Who Should Wait)

Buy AAWP if your Associates account makes 10 or more sales a month, you publish reviews or “best of” lists built around Amazon products, and you want prices that stay current without manual work. The 1-site plan at €79 a year is a small cost next to a working review site’s commissions.

Consider the AAWP API add-on if your sales swing with the seasons and you can’t afford product boxes going blank during a slow month. At €7 a month for 150 products, it is cheap insurance.

Wait if you are starting a new site. Use free blocks without prices and text links from Amazon’s own SiteStripe toolbar until you hit 10 sales in a month, then buy AAWP. You lose nothing by waiting, since AAWP has no free plan to learn on anyway.

Whatever you choose, product boxes add images and scripts to every page. Pair them with a lightweight theme; our fastest WordPress theme tests are a good place to start. For review schema and the other on-page basics, see our pick for the best SEO plugin for WordPress.

FAQ

Is AAWP free?

No. AAWP has no free version and no trial. Plans start at €79 a year for one site, or €299 one-time for a lifetime license, both before tax. AAWP offers a 30-day money-back guarantee.

Does AAWP still work after Amazon retired PA-API 5?

Yes. AAWP added Creators API support in version 5.0.0 on January 29, 2026, and has kept updating it since. You need new Creators API credentials from Associates Central, because Amazon says old PA-API keys don’t work.

Can I use AAWP without Amazon API access?

Yes, with the paid AAWP API add-on. It starts at €7 a month for 150 products and supplies titles, prices, images and descriptions. Bestseller and new release lists don’t work through it.

How many sales do I need for the Amazon Creators API?

Amazon lists at least 10 qualifying sales within the past 30 days, plus a fully accepted Associates account. Only the primary account owner can register. AAWP’s docs say access is paused when sales stop and restored within about two days after new referred sales ship.

What is the best free alternative to AAWP?

AffiliateX is the most capable free option for product boxes and comparison tables, but you type everything in by hand and should leave prices out. On our test install, its Product Comparison block also broke the nofollow and sponsored link markings, so check your page source. For link management, ThirstyAffiliates is free and solid.
