WordPress Theme, Plugin and Version Detector

Curious how a WordPress website was built? Inspect its public page source for theme paths, plugin assets and the WordPress generator tag. When a same-origin stylesheet is available, the tool reads theme name, author, version and parent-theme headers. Every finding includes its source evidence.

Inspect pasted page source locally

A public scan cannot reveal every installed plugin, prove a version is current, or certify a site is secure. Hidden asset paths, caching and headless sites can prevent detection.

How to use theme and plugin detector

  1. Enter a public website URL and run the detector, or paste page HTML for local inspection.
  2. Review detected theme paths and any stylesheet metadata, including a child theme’s parent header.
  3. Look through public plugin assets and follow review links for products we cover.
  4. Download the JSON report if you want to keep the findings for your own project research.

Questions and limits

Can this detect every installed plugin?

No. Plugins that do not expose front-end assets may be invisible. Optimizers, custom asset paths, firewalls and headless WordPress can also hide signals.

Is a detected version guaranteed to be current?

No. A generator tag or theme header is public evidence, not an authenticated inventory. Cached output may be stale. Confirm versions in the site’s WordPress dashboard.

Can it identify custom and child themes?

It reports visible theme directory names. If an accessible stylesheet includes a Theme Name or Template header, the tool displays it. Missing metadata is left unknown.

Do I need an account?

No. Public website inspections have request limits. The pasted-source mode runs locally and needs no server request.
